As a way of introducing myself, I'll explain where I am in the work force today. I am currently serving as an Instructional Technologist in Washington County, Virginia public schools.
Fortunately, Virginia schools are rich with technology as we have specific state mandated staff who work directly with teachers to integrate technology seamlessly in their classrooms. Training teachers in workshops and in-services, presenting at conferences, and working with the high school students in areas of photography and media take up a good part of my time. Instructional technologists work with people, software, and equipment and serve as advisors to their administration--so it is good to be well-rounded. Staying current in the field of technology is its own challenge!
I taught in the elementary setting for 25 years and have served as a technologist at both an elementary and high school for the past seven years. My graduate degree is from East Tennessee State University in Media Services with a concentration in Educational Technology.
My son is currently a Music major and Information Technology minor at ETSU and has plans to be a band director. My husband (an ETSU biology major) is the manager of Bays Mountain Park in Kingsport, Tennessee. As a family we love to travel, geocache, and dabble in photography. We live in the country, have several dogs and a horse, and think 'life is good.'
